Derek Carr sharp for Raiders, presents value in dynasty leagues

The Raiders' rookie signal caller's night was cut short due to a concussion, but he turned in an encouraging performance. We break down the fantasy implications.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr showcased his arm strength and mobility versus the Detroit Lions on Friday night.

Carr completed 9-of-16 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown before exiting with a concussion. His highlight of the night came on a beautiful 38-yard connection with Greg Little that would have been a touchdown had Little been able to stay in bounds. Carr instead hooked up with Jake Murphy for a touchdown on the same drive.

Fantasy Spin: It's looking as though Carr will unseat Matt Schaub sooner than later. Though Carr has had his work against backups, he has been the steadier of the two as Schaub has displayed an alarming lack of arm strength to go with an inability to make wise decisions with the football.

Should Carr win the starting job at any point during the season, he won't likely have much of a fantasy impact with limited weapons and inexperience at the helm. He makes for a nice dynasty stash, but nothing more. Matt Schaub is nowhere on the fantasy radar.
