Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been cleared to return to practice on Monday. Carr suffered a concussion in Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Lions, and was wearing extra padding on his ribs during practice. Barring a setback, Carr should be ready to go for Oakland's next preseason game on Friday.
The Raiders selected Carr in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Through two preseason games, Carr completed 19 of his 32 passes for 183 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Fantasy impact: Carr is not much more than a project at this point, and he's a longshot to make any fantasy impact in 2014. Having said that, Matt Schaub has struggled badly in the preseason so far, and the Raiders might be forced to turn to Carr much earlier than they want to. Fantasy owners can keep monitoring this situation -- a potential black hole at quarterback could open up more opportunities for Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden.
