Free agent right-handed starting pitcher Ryan Dempster turned down a two-year, $25 million contract offer from the Boston Red Sox, ESPN Boston reported Friday.
Dempster also recently rejected a similar offer from the Kansas City Royals.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Dempster could sign with the first team that offers him a three-year deal.
Dempster struggled in the latter part of the season after getting traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Texas Rangers in July. He had a 5.09 ERA in 12 starts with the Rangers. For the season, Dempster went 12-8 with a 3.38 ERA in 173 innings.
