Delaware scoring leader Devon Saddler had his biggest game in weeks, leading the visiting Fightin' Blue Hens to an 84-72 victory over Old Dominion in a Colonial Athletic Association game Saturday at the Constant Center.
The junior guard finished with 27 points and five rebounds for Delaware (6-8, 1-0 CAA), which has won four of its last five games after losing five in a row. Sophomore guard Jarvis Threat added a season-high 19 points, six rebounds and five assists while senior forward Jamelle Hagins posted 11 points and 16 rebounds to record his 10th double-double of the season.
Freshman guard Keenan Palmore had a team-high 14 points for struggling Old Dominion (2-13, 0-3), which has lost three in a row and 12 of its last 13. Senior center DeShawn Painter had 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Blue Hens began to pull away after Kyle Anderson made back-to-back 3-pointers with just over 14 minutes to play in the second half. The Monarchs trailed 66-46 with 7:38 remaining. They cut Delaware's lead to 75-67 when freshman guard Deion Clark made a 3-pointer with 1:27 to go, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
