Daryl Horgan has wasted little time settling in at Preston North End after being handed his debut in the FA Cup against Arsenal.

Just a month after playing his final game for the League of Ireland champions, the 25-year-old was named in the bench for Preston's FA Cup third round clash against the Gunners at Deepdale and was introduced with just under 10 minutes to go.

Sporting the number seven jersey, Horgan replaced Daniel Johnson with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game and looked right at home in his new surroundings, joining his compatriots Aiden McGeady, Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne in the fray.

While it is a moment that Horgan will certainly savour as he looks to kick on in England, the game did not go his side's way, with Arsenal coming from behind to snatch a late victory.

Callum Robinson had given Preston an early lead, but Aaron Ramsey equalised immediately after the re-start and Giroud scored in the 89th minute to ensure Arsene Wenger's men progress to the next stage of the competition.
