It's difficult not to be moved by the tragic events surround the recent bombing at the Boston Marathon earlier this week. But it is even more so moving for people that are from that city or region, or have spent any amount of time there.
UFC president Dana White is one of the people that has spent a lot of time living in and visiting Boston. It's one of his favorite places.
Like most of us, he has been hard hit by the emotion of the recent happenings there. He is, however, in a unique position to be able to do something about it.
No, he can't go there and take it all back, make it all go away like it never happened. But White can go there and he can have an effect on people's lives and try to help, in some small way, make things better, and that is what he intends to do.
“I'm gonna go to Boston and write some checks,” said White on Saturday night when pressed by reporters for his thoughts on the horrific events that unfolded in Boston. “I don't even know how I'm gonna do it or what I'm gonna do, but I'm going. I'm going next weekend.”
If nothing else, White, a multimillionaire, has the financial fortune to be able to at least lighten the load for some of the people whose lives were forever changed on April 15, 2013.
