The Dan Wetzel College Football Podcast welcomes Yahoo! Sports' latest hire: national college columnist Pat Forde, who joins the team after seven years at ESPN.
Pat discusses his decision to come to Yahoo! and some thoughts on his tenure at ESPN before turning to actual football, namely the Game of the Century between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama this Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
One of Pat’s trademark items in his “Forde-Yard Dash” column is restaurant and bar reviews, so he is asked to name his favorite of each in the states of Louisiana and Alabama. After making everyone hungry and thirsty, this is used to break down the game (sort of) considering the culinary delights of New Orleans, is a point spread necessary?
Later some Nick Saban and Les Miles stories come out, the rematch debate is rehashed and the general environment in Tuscaloosa on Saturday (chaos) is predicted.
Later Andrew Luck’s great performance against USC and the impact on his collegiate career is talked about. Then the topic shifts to Joe Paterno and his much-doubted Penn State Nittany Lions and how adding a conference title game (playoff) has reinvigorated the Big Ten regular season. Even Ohio State is back in it. Regular listeners can predict where this "every game finally counts" debate is going.

South Carolina-Arkansas (-5.5), Kansas State-Oklahoma State (-21) and LSU-Alabama (-5) are all predicted.
The first of many great appearances by Pat Forde. Give it a listen, it’s free.
