Fans of NBA and hip-hop are well aware that Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard is also a pretty talented rapper, an M.C. who records under the name Dame D.O.L.L.A. and who released his debut album, “The Letter O,” last month. With the Blazers in New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday and the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Lillard made an appearance on the SiriusXM hip-hop radio show Sway in the Morning to promote his new record label, Front Page Music, and — as he did last season — showcase his skills by spitting a little bit in the studio, over the instrumental from The Luniz classic, “I Got 5 On It.”

This time around, though, there was a special guest in the booth to catch Dame’s bars — none other than 1978 Academy Award nominee, co-star of “Point Break” and “Rookie of the Year,” and all-around bon vivant Gary Busey.

And guys, if you’re not sure what to think about Dame’s rapping, let Gary Busey’s reaction be your guide.

“MY MY MY MY!” Busey said after Lillard finished up. “Listen, I heard you in my — I felt you in my heart, I heard you in my soul and you’re a beautiful man with a great talent in many areas. And God bless you for being a motivation and an inspiration to the younger kids, the middle kids, the older kids and the older folks like me.”

You know, when Tuesday started, I had no idea what I hoped I’d see before day’s end, but I do know that “Gary Busey being thrilled by Damian Lillard’s rapping” did not appear on the list. What a fool I was.

“You know, miracles happen every day,” said Gary Busey after arriving in the studio just in time to see Damian Lillard rap. “Sometimes you don’t expect them, and that’s when the miracle is beyond a miracle.”

Truer words were never spoken, Gary Busey. Thank you.

Hat-tip to For the Win.
