Dak Prescott breaks Tom Brady's INT-less record, then ends streak with pick
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott broke Tom Brady’s record for most pass attempts to start an NFL career without an interception on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Then Prescott almost threw a pick immediately afterward.
Prescott attempted his 163rd pass without a pick since replacing Tony Romo as the Cowboys’ starter, which eclipsed Brady’s mark of 162, which was accrued over the course of his first two NFL seasons in 2000 and 2001.
But following attempt No. 164, Prescott dropped back to throw and had his arm hit by the Packers’ Julius Peppers and the ball ended up in the hands of linebacker Joe Thomas. Interception? Fumble?
Although NFL.com initially had it down as a pick, which wold have ended the streak, it was changed quickly and ruled a fumble. Prescott’s arm apparently had not started coming forward when the ball came free.
So the streak remained alive … until later in the game. Prescott misfired with a pass in Jason Witten’s direction, and this time it was picked by Packers safety Morgan Burnett. That ended the streak at 176 passes without a pick. That left Prescott a little more than halfway to the all-time mark of 335 attempts, set in 2010 by — yes, of course, Brady.
