CS Northridge pulls away from La Sierra 97-79

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Stephen Maxwell scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds, while Stephan Hicks added 21 of his own with 10 boards as Cal State Northridge put away La Sierra of the NAIA 97-79 Sunday.

The Matadors (4-4) led by just two early in the second half, but surged on a 14-2 run capped off by a four-point play from Josh Greene with 10:41 remaining.

La Sierra trimmed the deficit to 10 after four free throws from Daveon Woods, but couldn't pull any closer as Cal State Northridge led by as many as 19.

Greene finished with 17 points and sank four of the team's five 3-pointers. Tre Hale-Edmerson had six blocks and seven rebounds.

La Sierra couldn't keep pace with Cal State Northridge, shooting just 38.5 percent to the Matadors' 58.6 percent. Wolfgang Wood led the Golden Eagles with 31 points Woods had 22.
