Sunday night's game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins was the highest-rated NFL regular-season primetime game ever on NBC, and the highest-rated on any network in 15 years, according to overnight data released by the Nielsen Company on Monday.
It was the best overnight rating for any Cowboys-Redskins primetime matchup in 19 years and the Washington D.C. market had its best rating ever for an NFL game in primetime.
The game drew an 18.3 overnight rating and a 30 share. The Redskins beat the Cowboys 28-18 to clinch the NFC East division title.
The game rated seven percent higher than last year's Week 17 game between the Cowboys and New York Giants, which had a 17.1 overnight and a 27 share.
The previous high rating for an NFL regular-season primetime overnight on NBC was the Week 1 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos, which had an 18.0 overnight and a 29 share.
