What do you get when you cross a lifelong Cowboys fan and a lifelong Redskins fan?
In the case of Emmanuel Vega -- the Redskins fan -- and Marissa Pena -- the Cowboys fan -- the answer is either Robert Griffin Vega or Austin Miles Vega.
According to the Washington Post, the Tucson, Ariz., couple was having a difficult time deciding what to name their son, who is due to arrive around April 16.
Vega came up with the idea to leave the child naming up to their favorite teams and when the Redskins and Cowboys played on Thanksgiving, their son's name would be sealed on the field.
Although he eventually came out ahead, Vega did have reservations.
"She didn't really disagree with that at all, but she started saying she would name it Troy Aikman or Emmitt Smith, all these old Cowboys," Vega told The Washington Post. "I would die if my son grew up to be a Cowboys fan. That'd be awful. I don't even know how I'd feel."
Pena and Vega agreed that each would have veto power one time. Pena's first choice, if she won, was to name their son, "Emmitt Vega." Vega said no.
Pena's first choice, which Vega vetoed, was Darrell Green Vega.
So the bet was on and family members gathered at their Tucson. But as the start of the game neared, Vega became terrified when reading about Tony Romo's near-flawless Thanksgiving Day record, the Post reported.
"I was second-guessing the whole time, like,'What am I thinking?" Vega said. "If she's gonna name him after a Cowboys player, there's no doubt he would be a Cowboys fan. My son, as a Cowboys fan? I might have to disown him."
Vega worried and got an upset stomach for nothing. Robert Griffin III threw for 311 yards and Washington built a huge halftime lead against Dallas before mounted a furious comeback.
In the end, the Redskins won and so did Vega.
Even Pena seemed at peace with the outcome.
"I actually like it," she said. "I didn't at first. I think it just stuck with us. All my sisters call him Little Robby Griff."
