Connor McDavid breaks stick, immediately scores with new one (Video)

Connor McDavid became the first NHL player this season to reach 60 points when he scored his 18th of the season against the Carolina Hurricanes Friday night.

The Edmonton Oilers captain broke his stick along the sideboards while trying to win the puck. Upon noticing it was broke, McDavid snapped it and proceeded to skate to the bench to grab a new twig. Once the new tool was in hand, Oscar Klefbom saw him wide open as Carolina was changing and fired a great pass across the ice.

Klefbom and Adam Larsson may have picked up the assists on the goal, but Oilers equipment manager Jeff Lang certainly deserves some praise for his quick effort.

As mentioned on the broadcast, McDavid has now played 99 career NHL games and has not gone more than two games without registering a point. He had been kept off the scoresheet in Edmonton’s previous two games before Friday’s meeting with the Hurricanes.
