One of the first tasks that new GM Chris Ballard has been tasked with will be to help keep Andrew Luck healthy. And that will start with an improved offensive line.

Ballard already has key pieces in Ryan Kelly, Anthony Castonzo and Jack Mewhort. All of whom have solidified their starting spots along the offensive line. However, the right side is still has some major question marks.

The Colts hoped to of help solve that issue today.

Here is what Colts.com had to say about adding the former 2016 5th round draft pick Fahn Cooper.

Cooper, 6-5, 306 pounds, spent the entire 2016 season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He participated in the 49ers 2016 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 3 and was signed to the team’s practice squad the next day. Cooper was originally selected by San Francisco in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Collegiately, Cooper started all 26 games in two seasons (2014-15) at Mississippi. In 2015, he was the Kent Hull Trophy winner, presented to Mississippi’s college offensive lineman of the year. Cooper started all 13 games and helped the Rebels lead the SEC in scoring (40.8 points per game), total offense (517.8 yards per game) and passing offense (334.7 yards per game). The team ranked in the top 10 nationally and set school records in each category. In 2014, Cooper started all 13 games. Prior to Mississippi, he spent the 2013 season at the College of DuPage where he earned Second Team NJCAA All-America honors. Cooper began his collegiate career at Bowling Green and started all 13 games for the Falcons in 2012 after redshirting in 2011.

Cooper is the first player to be signed since Ballard took over late last month. And is only the second move by the new GM. The first coming as the Colts released D’Qwell Jackson back on February 9th.

The former Ole Miss standout likely will compete for a training camp invite during OTAs later this offseason.
