Notre Dame took over the No. 1 spot in both majors polls, which were announced Sunday, but it was not unanimous.
The Fighting Irish received all 60 first place votes in the AP media poll, but got 56 of 59 first place votes in the USA Today coaches poll.
It is the first time since 1993 that Notre Dame is ranked No. 1 by the AP.
Alabama and Georgia are second and third in both polls. Alabama received two first place votes and Georgia one by the coaches.
Oregon fell from the No. 1 spot to No. 5 in the media poll and dropped to No. 4 in the coaches poll after its 17-14 overtime loss to Stanford on Saturday.
Ohio State is No. 4 in the media poll but not eligible to be ranked by the coaches because of NCAA sanctions.
The Ducks and Buckeyes are the only undefeated FBS teams.
Kansas State, which lost 52-24 to Baylor, fell from No. 2 to seventh in the AP poll and to eighth in the coaches poll.
The rest of AP's top 10 included No. 6 Florida, No. 8 LSU, No. 9 Texas A&M and No. 10 Florida State.
Florida State (No. 5), Florida (No. 6) and LSU (No. 7), Clemson (No. 9) and Texas A&M (No. 10) made up the rest of the coaches top 10.
Stanford came in at No. 11 in both polls.\

--Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley was fired Sunday, the school announced.
Tennessee's 41-18 loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday guaranteed the Volunteers a losing season.
Dooley went 15-21 as the Volunteers coach and finished with a losing mark in all three years on the job. It is also the first time Tennessee has had three straight losing seasons since 1909-11.
His firing is effective immediate. Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will serve as interim coach for Saturday's season finale against Kentucky.

--Michigan running back Fitz Toussaint had surgery to repair a leg injury sustained early in Saturday's victory over Iowa and he will be out the rest of the season, reported Sunday.
Although head coach Brady Hoke did not confirm the specific nature of the injury, it was reported that Toussaint sustained a broken leg.
Toussaint has 514 yards rushing this season.
