Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali will play Sunday against the Denver Broncos but the team will be without linebacker Justin Houston.
They were injured during last Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.
Hali said Friday his injured ankle is much better but Houston is out with a dislocated right elbow.
"I'm to the point where I can do what I like doing," Hali said.
That is much different than how he felt earlier in the week.
"With the pain I had on Sunday, it was like, man, I should probably just great ready for the playoffs," he said. "Tuesday, I came in trying to baby it, but I could move more. That's when I knew that I was going to be able to play."
An MRI revealed sprained ligaments and torn muscles in the elbow. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he does not believe Houston's injury is season-ending.
Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said the MRI was delayed because of swelling. He said that is common when there is a dislocation.
"He's going through the process right now," Burkholder said. "We're just trying to get his range of motion, get the swelling down. He's in a brace. He's truly week to week. He won't play this weekend, and we'll treat him, rehab him, and Monday we'll regroup and see where he's at."
