Nigeria international John Mikel Obi has said that Nigeria U23 team will draw inspiration from Chelsea’s win against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Monday when they face Germany.

Eden Hazard 47th minute strike from the spot gave the Blues the lead before Diego Costa sealed the win against the Hammers on Monday.

The Dream Team VI will face the Europeans in the semi-finals of the Olympic men football game on Wednesday night and the midfielder claims the team is fired up for the tie.

“I was already full of belief ahead of Nigeria’s semi-final against Germany tonight, but seeing the way Chelsea beat West Ham on Monday has inspired me even more," he wrote in Evening Standard.

“We are going into the game in good spirits after a good 2-0 win over Denmark in the quarter-finals. I am in good form too after getting a goal and an assist. Some Chelsea fans may have been surprised to see me that far forward when I put us 1-0 up.

“My dream is to win gold in Brazil. But it will be a huge boost to the rest of Team Nigeria if we beat Germany because that will at least guarantee our first medal. The country hasn’t got one yet and perhaps seeing the footballers succeed will help the others do the same."
