The highly anticipated Nike "Shooting Stars" pack is less than a week away. Paying homage to the great Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway and honoring his time with the Orlando Magic, the pack includes two pairs of shoes—the AirFoamposite One and the Lil' Penny Posite. New Foamposites were exclusively worn by Hardaway during the 2012 Celebrity All-Star game in Orlando.
The Air Foamposite One sports a mostly white body with blue accents throughout. The Lil' Penny Posite is a combination of Hardaway's past shoes. Designed by Marc Dolce, it is mostly black, with a few blue accents, and also features the signature Flight and 1 Cent branding.
The shoes will come in a special box that carries a quote from the classic Nike campaign that featured Lil' Penny, voiced by Chris Rock. The quote reads, "You guys remind me of my shoe closet. I got two pennies and a bunch of loafers."
For the release, Nike is bringing Lil' Penny out of retirement, a move that was teased during this year's NBA All-Star weekend. He will be fully promoted in a new advertising campaign for the shoe.
Check out the following images of the pack, set to be released May 17 on Nike.com and select Nike retailers. A $500 price tag is rumored for the two-pair pack, but for something as exclusive as this, it just might be worth it.
