Charlotte, N.C. – The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament returns to Charlotte in 2018. The Charlotte 49ers athletic department hosts the first and second rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tournament at the Spectrum Center, March 16 & 18.
"We are extremely excited to be hosting the 2018 first and second rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in Charlotte at the Spectrum Center,” said Judy Rose, Charlotte 49ers Director of Athletics. “We appreciate the efforts put forth by so many to create a bipartisan compromise so that NCAA events could return to North Carolina. We look forward to working with our partners in the CRVA, at the arena and with the Charlotte Hornets to again showcase Charlotte as the welcoming hospitable city that it has always been."
This will be the fourth time that the Spectrum Center has been a site for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. In 2011 and 2015, the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament were played at the Spectrum Center. In 2008, the NCAA Regionals were played at the Spectrum Center. This will be the 23rd time that the city of Charlotte has been a site for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament highlighted by the 1994 Final Four which was played at the Charlotte Coliseum.
A pre-sale offer has been sent separately via email to Charlotte 49er Club members, season ticket holders and special constituents. Tickets for the general public will go on sale in early November 2017. For special men's basketball ticket offers and notifications from the NCAA, signup online at www.NCAA.com/MBBTickets.
