Offensive tackle Mike Harris, who started the past three games for the San Diego Chargers, landed on injured reserve Wednesday because of an ankle injury, the team announced.
San Diego replaced him on the roster by signing tackle Mike Remmers off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad.
Harris played in Week 3 in place of right tackle D.J. Fluker, then switched across the line to start the past two weeks in place of King Dunlap. Both Fluker and Dunlap were sidelined due to concussions.
A second-year player out of UCLA, Harris appeared in 12 games as a rookie and made nine starts.
Remmers (6-foot-5, 303 pounds) spent the start of this season and nearly all of last year on Tampa Bay's practice squad. He originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State, where made 44 starts after arriving as a walk-on.
The Chargers also made several practice-squad moves Wednesday. Tight end Jake Byrne was lost to the Houston Texans, who added him to their active roster, and running back Miguel Maysonet was released.
New to San Diego's practice squad are tight end Ryan Otten and running back Kerwynn Williams. Otten spent training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Indianapolis Colts cut Williams from their practice squad on Tuesday.
