Central Michigan regained the lead for good on a Mike Kinville-to-Cooper Rush touchdown pass. Tony Annesse returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown to push the lead to 27-16.
The Broncos scored on a Brian Fields' 1-yard run after Cory Sueing forced a fumble, recovered by Austin Lewis. Western Michigan mounted another late drive but it stalled on Central Michigan's 26.
