Free agent cornerback Terence Newman announced via Twitter on Saturday that he declined a contract offer with the Oakland Raiders and is staying with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Newman wrote that the Raiders offered him more money than the Bengals but he likes playing in Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's system.
"After much time and thought, I'm heading back to Cincy," he wrote. "And for those of you who think it was about money, the Raiders offered more. I came in with Mike Zimmer and feel its only right that I leave as him coaching me. Thanks to Raiders Nation for showing me such love."
Newman started 15 games for Cincinnati last year. He was drafted No. 5 overall in 2003 by the Dallas Cowboys when Zimmer was their defensive coordinator.
