The Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in giving free agent center Andrew Bynum a generous one-year contract, ESPN reported Monday.
Bynum, out all last season because of a knee injury, has drawn interest from several teams.
The Cavaliers are willing to give Bynum several million dollars if he is willing to sign a one-year contract. Cleveland is about $15 million under the salary cap.
The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks, who missed out on landing Dwight Howard, have also expressed serious interest in Bynum.
Bynum averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds in 2011-12 for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in the four-team deal that sent Howard from the Orlando Magic to the Lakers. Bynum did not play a game for Philadelphia in his only season there.
