Each Monday, we’ll gather the best catches from the weekend (or the midweek games) and bring them here for you to vote on in a poll. There could be only a few nominees, or there could be five or six. It all depends on the weekend. If you have a catch you’d like to nominate, don’t hesitate to hit us up on Twitter (@YahooDrSaturday).

The voting remains open until Friday and the winner advances to another round of voting that will help crown the best catch of the regular season.

The regular season is over, but we’ve got one final week of catches to sort through before we reveal our 14 finalists! A tight end joined our list of winners in Week 13 with Penn State’s Mike Gesicki taking home the crown for his awesome touchdown catch in PSU’s win over Michigan State. Here’s that play again (you’ll see more from Gesicki in just a bit):

Here are your Week 14 nominees:

KD Cannon – Baylor

The second half of the season has been rough for Baylor, but KD Cannon continues to produce at a high level. He caught five balls for 84 yards and a touchdown Saturday against West Virginia, but his best catch may have been this three-yarder. You’ll see why.

This was a third-and-two play and Cannon ran a route just past the first down marker. The ball hit off both hands, and again off his left hand. As Cannon fell to the turf, he reached out and brought it in for a first down.

Mike Gesicki – Penn State

The Penn State tight end is back among our nominees yet again. After a Week 13 win, Mike Gesicki made another huge play, this time in the Big Ten title game. PSU was down 14-0 when Trace McSorley looked deep for Gesicki who made an impressive leaping grab over a defender.

That’s a 250-pound tight end making that play, folks.

John Ross – Washington

Washington didn’t have much trouble with Colorado in Friday’s Pac-12 title game. Already leading 24-7, UW’s John Ross made an incredible play to increase the lead.

It actually looks like Browning, UW’s sophomore quarterback, may have been trying to throw the ball away, but Ross jumped up and snagged the high pass out of the air with one hand before taking it the distance.

Trent Taylor – Louisiana Tech

Louisiana Tech’s Trent Taylor ranks second in the nation with 124 catches and third with 1,570 yards. He had a game-high 11 catches in the Bulldogs’ Conference USA championship setback to Western Kentucky, including this awesome one-handed snag for a clutch first down.

The senior used every inch of his 5-foot-8 frame to extend for that ball. Don’t be surprised if you see Taylor playing on Sundays next year.

Jahad Thomas – Temple

Jahad Thomas has had a great career at Temple and topped it off Saturday with an AAC championship. The senior running back had 62 rushing yards and a touchdown along with two catches for 24 yards in the 34-10 upset over Navy. One of those two catches involved some extreme concentration.

Thomas tipped the ball to himself twice before finally establishing possession and barreling ahead for a 15-yard gain.
