Brandon LaFell had a big day, paving the way to a rout for the Panthers over the Vikings, 35-10, in Minneapolis.
A terrific performance from Cam Newton included four touchdowns (3 pass, 1 rush) on 20 of 26 passing for 242 yards and no interceptions. For the Vikings, Matt Cassel could not keep pace, going 32 of 44 with 241 yards passing, one touchdown and two picks.
DeAngelo Williams carried the ball 17 times for 64 yards in addition to five receptions for 53 yards. LaFell was a top receiver, catching four balls for 107 yards with a touchdown.
The Carolina defense was the deciding factor in the victory, giving up 75 yards rushing and 215 passing. They brought down Cassel for three sacks.
Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph gave a standout effort with 97 receiving yards and one touchdown. Running back Adrian Peterson also had a good game with 62 rushing yards and 21 receiving.
Next week, the Panthers are at home against the Rams (3-3) while the Vikings travel to East Rutherford to face the Giants (0-6).
