Zack Greinke allowed just two runs in seven innings against St. Louis and Adrian Gonzalez connected for two home runs as the Cardinals were blown out by Los Angeles, 6-4. The Cardinals gave up home runs to three different players in the loss.
The Dodgers got on the board first in the bottom of the second when Juan Uribe hit a single off starter Joe Kelly, driving in Gonzalez. Later in the inning, Greinke also hit a single that knocked in Yasiel Puig to bring the score to 2-0. With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the third, the Dodgers went on top to stay when Gonzalez went deep for a solo home run off Kelly.
Kelly was saddled with his first loss in these playoffs while allowing seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Greinke (1-1) got the win, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Matt Holliday had standout at-bats for the Cardinals, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI. Matt Adams also had a great game, going 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with two home runs, three runs, and two RBIs in the win.
The Cardinals now lead the series by just one game. The Cardinals will take on the Dodgers Friday in Game 6 of the NLCS at Busch Stadium at 7:37 PM CDT.
