The St. Louis Cardinals called up second baseman Kolten Wong from Class AAA Memphis, the club announced Friday.
Wong is in the lineup batting sixth and playing second base for the Cardinals for Friday's game at the Chicago Cubs. Matt Carpenter was moved to third base and David Freese is not in the lineup.
Wong, 22, batted .303 with a .369 on-base percentage, 10 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 107 games for Memphis this season.
In 280 minor league games, he is batting .301 with a .365 on-base percentage. He was the No. 22 overall pick in the 2011 draft.
He was ranked the No. 84 prospect by Baseball America before the season.
