Vancouver Canucks winger Byron Bitz was suspended for two games by the NHL on Thursday for his hit on Los Angeles Kings forward Kyle Clifford on Wednesday.
The decision came after Bitz had a disciplinary hearing Thursday afternoon.
Clifford had his head down and was considered to be in a vulnerable position when Bitz hit him, pushing Clifford's head into the glass.
Bitz received a boarding major and a game misconduct as a result. Bitz has one goal and three assists in 10 games this season.
Clifford left Wednesday's game after the hit, and the Los Angeles Times reported he is not expected to play in Friday's game. He has five goals and seven assists in 81 games this season.
