Right-hander Dan Straily, who leads the minor leagues with 175 strikeouts, will be called up by the A's and make his major-league debut Friday night against the Blue Jays.
Straily, 23, is 8-6 with a 2.60 ERA and just 97 hits allowed in 138 1/3 innings over 22 starts between Class AA and Class AAA this season. He has a 1.36 ERA since being promoted to Class AAA Sacramento, and is expected to take Travis Blackley's spot in the rotation, with Blackley likely headed to the bullpen.
Straily was chosen the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week in the middle of July.
Infielder Adam Rosales is also expected to be called up, according to MLB.com.
