Several hours after being eliminated from the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, the Dallas Mavericks reached agreement with free agent point guard Jose Calderon on a four-year deal worth $29 million, multiple media outlets reported.
Calderon, 31, is a career 39.9 percent 3-point shooter who split time between Toronto and Detroit last season. He averaged 11.3 points and 7.1 assists for the two teams combined in 2012-2013.
The Pistons tried to re-sign Calderon, and the Sacramento Kings also showed interest in him.
