C.J. Spiller: Gailey Not Afraid Of Heavy Workload

Update: With Fred Jackson out with a concussion, coach Chan Gailey says he's not afraid to give Spiller carries of "20 to 25 ... or 30 times a game for us to win," BuffaloBills.com reports.

Recommendation: Tashard Choice will serve as the main backup to Spiller on Thursday, but rest assured this won't be anything close to the usual Spiller/Jackson timeshare, and Spiller will be the bell cow at least for a week. The only worries would be the possibility of Gailey making Choice the goal-line specialist or the Dolphins' stout run defense, which ranks fifth in the league. Nonetheless, Spiller's value just took a big spike upward for a week and possibly more, and he clearly has the all-around talent to have a big game even outside those obstacles. The long-term question might be what the Bills do with Jackson once he returns, should Spiller keep up such fine work, as he's averaging an eye-popping 7.26 yards per carry. Even if it's impossible to keep that up, the amount of touches Spiller is about to get in the near term should more than offset any regression to the mean.
