Butler holds off Dayton 21-11

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Trae Heeter ran for 159 yards, most of it on two long touchdown runs, and Butler defeated Dayton 21-11 on Saturday.

Heeter's 41-yard run with 2:42 left in the third quarter gave the Bulldogs (3-2, 3-0 Pioneer) a 14-3 lead. After the Flyers trimmed the lead to 14-11 early in the fourth quarter, Butler put the game away on Heeter's 78-yard touchdown with 2:19 to play. Heeter carried the ball 23 times in the game.

Matt Lancaster threw for 170 yards for Butler. Rob Washington scored the only touchdown for Dayton (1-4, 0-2), on a 13-yard run, and finished with 63 yards on 12 carries. Will Bardo threw for 255 yards and ran for a 2-point conversion for the Flyers.
