Bucknell remained undefeated in the Patriot League, winning for the third straight time and for the fifth time in its last six games, with a 66-51 victory over Lafayette Saturday at Bucknell's Sojka Pavilion.
The Bison, behind a game-high 27 points on 12-of-24 shooting from Mike Muscala, improved to 16-3 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League, while Lafayette fell to 8-12 and 1-2 in league play.
The 6-foot-11 Muscala finished with a double-double, grabbing 15 rebounds along with his 27 points. Cameron Ayers chipped in with 12 for Bucknell and Joe Willman had 10.
Lafayette, which lost for the second straight time coming off a 77-54 loss to Army, was led by Seth Hinrichs with 12 points.
Bucknell and Lehigh were locked in a 10-10 tie early, but the Bison took control of the game form there. Bucknell went into the intermission leading 27-20, thanks to a big 16-6 push that gave it a 26-16 lead.
A Muscala slam with 9:10 left in the half gave Bucknell its first lead of the game at 12-11. The Bison never trailed again, opening a 22-15 lead, leaning heavily inside on Muscala, who averaged 19.7 points entering the game. He had 15 by halftime on 6-of-12 shooting.
Bucknell led by 16 twice, 61-45 on a Muscala dunk with 4:21 left, and 65-49 on a Willman jumper with 1:40 left.
