Free agent pass rusher Shaun Phillips agreed to a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos on Saturday.
Phillips led the San Diego Chargers with 9.5 sacks last season, playing outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He'll move to defensive end with the Denver Broncos, who are trying to replace Elvis Dumervil.
Dumervil had 11 sacks, second to Von Miller (18.5) for the Broncos last season. He and the Broncos parted ways when paperwork for a renogotiated contract wasn't faxed to the NFL before the deadline arrived on Dumervil's roster bonus. The Broncos opted to release him, and Dumervil signed with Baltimore in free agency.
Phillips, 31, was a fourth-round pick in 2004 and had spent his entire career with the Chargers.
He has 69.5 career sacks and 20 forced fumbles.
