The Denver Broncos had a top-five offensive trio in 2013 and 2014. As Peyton Manning continued his assault on the NFL record books, Demaryius Thomas was a top-five receiver in the NFL, while Knowshon Moreno or C.J. Anderson were reliable running backs to help balance the offense.

But as we all know, Anderson didn’t really get his game going until the second half of 2015. Thomas had his worst career with No. 18 at the helm, losing his concentration and failing to be a factor in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Manning had his worst season statistically, and the Broncos offense is a huge question mark in 2016.

Can Mark Sanchez really become the franchise quarterback they so desire? Anderson appears ready for a true breakout season, should the offensive line rejuvenate. Meanwhile, Thomas can’t have another bad season like this, can he?

There is reason for optimism that the offense will rebound, but the Broncos trio of Sanchez-Thomas-Anderson isn’t one of the NFL’s best, according to Cover32’s Jacob Infante. He ranked all 32 QB-WR-RB trios, and the Broncos came in at 22nd.

Thomas’ success depends on how he can do with Sanchez (or another quarterback,) at the helm. Brock Osweiler played above-average, and though Manning was on his last arms and legs in the NFL, Thomas dropped or fumbled many easy passes from him.

Denver’s defense will be dangerous again in 2016, but they’ll really need Sanchez and co. to pull through if the franchise’s second repeat is to take place.
