Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann was activated from the disabled list Monday, after missing the season's first five weeks following surgery on his right shoulder.
The six-time All-Star catcher had October surgery to repair a torn labrum. He batted .348 with four homers in seven games with Single-A Rome and Triple-A Gwinnett during his rehab stint.
Infielder Tyler Pasternicky was optioned to the minors to make room on the roster, meaning the Braves will carry three catchers in McCann, Evan Gattis and Gerald Laird. Gattis will likely back up McCann and log time at first base and in the outfield.
