Brandon Jacobs: Exits with Left Knee Injury Staff

Update: Jacobs was helped off the field with a left knee injury in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, CSN Bay Area reports.

Recommendation: Jacobs sustained the injury on his first carry of the game when the Texans' Kareem Jackson hit Jacobs' left knee while it was planted. Jacobs remained on the ground for a few minutes before being helped of the field and carted to the locker room, an indication that the injury could be pretty serious. Await further word on Jacobs' status, but backups Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James receive an upgrade in the interim, while Frank Gore could stand to benefit from more goal line carries if Jacobs is out for an extended period of time.
