The Boston Red Sox announced that right-hander Clay Buchholz will start Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday.
The St. Louis Cardinals previously announced that right-hander Lance Lynn will start for them.
Buchholz's status was questionable because of an unspecified injury concern. He has allowed 10 runs in 16 2/3 innings over three postseason starts.
Lynn has surrendered seven runs in 11 2/3 innings over two starts and one relief appearance this postseason. The Cardinals reportedly considered using Game 1 starter Adam Wainwright on three days' rest. But manager Mike Matheny decided to let Wainwright pitch on regular rest for Game 5. Michael Wacha will follow in Game 6, if necessary.
The series is tied 1-1.
As for tonight's Game 3 in St. Louis, Boston's Jake Peavy (0-1, 8.31 ERA in the postseason) will face St. Louis' Joe Kelly (0-1, 4.41).
