The Charlotte Bobcats sign free-agent guard-forward Chris Douglas-Roberts and waived forward James Southerland, the team announced Wednesday.
Douglas-Roberts was playing with the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League. He is the fifth D-League call-up by the team this season.
The four-year NBA veteran, who was the 40th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Nets, has career averages of 7.5 points, 2-1 rebounds and 1.2 assists with the Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks.
In six games for the Legends this season, Douglas-Roberts averaged 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He was shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the three-point line (7 of 16) and 86 percent from the free-throw line (37 of 43).
Southerland, an undrafted free agent from Syracuse who signed with the Bobcats on Sept. 5, played three minutes in one game for Charlotte.
