Defenseman Wade Redden agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with the St. Louis Blues on Friday.
Earlier this week, Redden was waived and had his contract bought out by the New York Rangers.
"Wade is a solid two-way defenseman," general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "We believe his experience will complement and add stability to our defensive core."
Redden, 35, has 13 years of experience in the NHL. Eleven of those came with Ottawa and the last two with the Rangers from 2008 to 2010. He has 106 goals, 450 points and 654 penalty minutes in 994 career games.
For the past two seasons, Redden has played with the the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate in Connecticut, logging four goals and 20 points in 49 games.
The Blues expect Redden to arrive this weekend and undergo a physical.
