The Toronto Blue Jays activated third baseman Brett Lawrie from the 15-day disabled list and assigned infielder Munenori Kawasaki to Class AAA Buffalo.
Lawrie, 23, was out nearly two months with a sprained left ankle. He went 8-for-32 with one home run in 10 minor-league rehab games. He also started the season on the DL because of a ribcage injury.
Lawrie is batting .209 with five home runs in 37 games this year.
Kawasaki, 32, batted .213 in 70 games for the Blue Jays. He filled in at shortstop while Jose Reyes was on the DL with an ankle injury.
