DETROIT -- Ryan Johansen and Matt Calvert scored in in the shootout to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday.
Derick Brassard and R.J. Umberger scored in regulation for Columbus (10-12-4), which won its fifth straight and beat the Red Wings 3-0 in Columbus on Saturday afternoon. Sergei Bobrovsky made 20 saves.
Jakub Kindl and Johan Franzen got the goals for Detroit (12-10-4) in the first 60 minutes. Jimmy Howard stopped 19 shots. Pavel Datsyuk scored in the shootout.
Franzen's fifth goal tied the game 2-2, with a 5-on-3 power-play goal just 25 seconds into the third period. He put in a snap shot from the slot off a pass from Damien Brunner. Johansen was in the penalty box for slashing and then Umberger handled the puck with his hand on the ensuing face-off . Both penalties came with 23.3 seconds left in the the second period.
The Blue Jackets led 2-1 after two periods.
The first three goals of the game were scored in a 1:15 span early in the second period.
Brassard scored 3:10 into the middle period when he beat Howard with a slap shot from the top of the right circle for Brassard's fourth goal. Kindl tied it just 30 seconds later with his third goal, when he beat Bobrovsky from just above the high slot with a slap shot.
Umberger capitalized on Zetterberg's turnover and ripped a slapper past Howard from the top of the right circle to give Columbus the lead. It was Umberger's fifth goal.
Columbus out-shot Detroit 6-4 in the first period, in which the Blue Jackets continued effectively forechecking the Red Wings in the Detroit zone. That was a major component of Columbus' 3-0 win on Saturday
NOTES: Columbus right wing Derek Dorsett, who was ruled out for the season after suffering a broken clavicle on Thursday night, reportedly said he has not discounted returning this season. "You never know," Dorsett told the Columbus Dispatch. "Some people heal quicker. It's a six-to-eight week thing, but we'll see how it goes." ... Detroit defenseman Ian White returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the previous six games. Rookie defenseman Brian Lashoff was a healthy scratch on Sunday. ... Columbus center Artem Anisimov missed his second game with a lower-body injury. ... Detroit forward Valtteri Filppula missed his seventh game with a shoulder injury.
