Update: Geoffrion underwent surgery Friday night after hitting his head on the ice following a nasty check from an opponent in an AHL game in Montreal on Friday night, reports the Toronto Sun.
Recommendation: Geoffrion was skating full-out with the puck along the left wing boards when J.P. Cote of the Syracuse Crunch stopped him in his tracks with a massive hip check. Geoffrion went airborne, hitting his head on the ice. He was able to leave the ice under his own power, but was soon rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for what his coach characterized as a "not life-threatening" injury. Geoffrion is the grandson of Habs great Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion. He came to the Habs' organization last February in a trade with the Predators.
