Blackhawks re-sign defenseman Leddy to two-year deal
The Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday announced they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with defenseman Nick Leddy.
"We are pleased to announce that Nick will remain a core member of our organization," said Vice President/General Manager Stan Bowman. "Over the course of the past three seasons, Nick has shown continuous development and we think he will be essential to our long-term success."
Leddy, 22, ranked third among Blackhawks defensemen with 18 points (6G, 12A) and a plus-15 rating in 48 regular-season games. A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Leddy \set career highs in goals, power-play goals (2) and game-winning goals (2). He added two assists in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to remain in Chicago and be a part of this special group of young, experienced players on a team in a winning environment," said Leddy. "The organization is first class both on and off the ice, and I am honored to be a member of the Chicago Blackhawks."
Leddy was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round (16th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Blackhawks from Minnesota on Feb. 12, 2010.
