The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed halfback Cedric Peerman and extended tender offers to three other players with expiring contracts Thursday.
Fourth-year saftey Jeromy Miles, third-year wide receiver Andrew Hawkins and third-year linebacker Vincent Rey -- all restricted free agents -- were tendered offers that allow the Bengals to retain exclusive negotiating rights for 2013.
The league year begins Tuesday, when unsigned players are allowed to become free agents.
Peerman, who is entering his fourth season, ran for 258 yards on 36 carries last season. He also was a key player on special teams, acting as the upback on fake punts.
"It's great to have Cedric's situation wrapped up; he's a smart and productive player who keeps getting better for us," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "And the guys we've tendered have also contributed to us reaching the playoffs each of the last two years. They are players we want to retain, and this (tender process) is a step in that direction."
