DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Tyshawn Bell scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half to lead Delaware State past Baptist Bible 72-49 on Monday.
Delaware State took a 39-27 lead into halftime and, after George Wion trimmed the Bible Baptist (3-3) deficit to 8 points nearly 5 minutes into the second half, DSU rattled off 13 of the game's next 14 points to push its lead to 20, 55-35 with 12 minutes to play.
Luke Peterson responded by scoring the first six points in an 8-0 run by the Defenders, but Kendal Williams answered with a 10 straight followed by a 3-pointer by Bell which pushed the Delaware State (2-5) lead to 70-43 with 2:54 remaining.
Peterson paced Baptist Bible with 14 points and Dan Dodd added 12.
Williams hit 7 of 8 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 from behind the arc, and finished with 18 points.
