The Bears signed TE Brody Eldridge to a one-year deal and waived RB Kahlil Bell.
Eldridge, known most for his blocking, started 16-of-27 games over the past two seasons for the Colts. He has 14 catches for 84 yards and was a fifth-round pick by Indianapolis in 2010.
The Rams picked him up off waivers this past offseason but released him after it was revealed he would be suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
In two games this season, Bell has 12 carries for 32 yards.
The way we see it
Eldridge brings depth to the H-back and fullback positions, as the Bears continue to be without rookie Evan Rodriguez (knee) for some time. The team has plenty of depth at running back and could afford to let go of Bell.
