June 7 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cincinnati Reds promoted right-handed pitcher Nate Adcock from Triple-A Louisville and optioned right-hander Jumbo Diaz to the same club on Sunday. Adcock owns a 2.96 ERA with 11 saves in 24 1/3 innings at Louisville. Diaz's performance Saturday cost him his spot on the roster. He walked the bases loaded and gave up the game-winning hit in a 9-7 loss to the San Diego Padres. He is 0-2 with a 6.65 ERA in 25 games for the Reds. - - - Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Louisville on Monday. He will play left field during the assignment in preparation for a new role with the Reds. - - - The Chicago White Sox placed left-handed relief pitcher Dan Jennings on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation on the left side of his neck. The move is retroactive to June 5. The team also purchased the contract of right-hander Junior Guerra from Triple-A Charlotte. Guerra has no major league experience.
