June 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Seattle Mariners shortstop Jean Segura and designated hitter Nelson Cruz both left Thursday's game against the Colorado Rockies with injuries. Cruz, who entered play as the American League leader in RBIs with 42, was hit by a pitch on the left hand from Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland in the third inning. Segura, who began the day as the AL's leading hitter with a .344 batting average, was injured on an awkward slide into second base in the fourth inning. The Mariners announced Segura was undergoing further examination on his right ankle. -- The Miami Marlins have established a trust for the mother and daughter of former ace Jose Fernandez via a $700,000 contribution from Major League Baseball, the Miami Herald reported. Fernandez, who was a two-time All-Star pitcher, was killed along with two others in an early morning boating accident on Sept. 25. -- The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Grant Dayton from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed fellow left-hander Adam Liberatore on the 10-day disabled list with left forearm tightness. Dayton has posted a 1-1 mark with a 5.25 ERA in 14 games with the Dodgers this season. Liberatore is making his second trip to the disabled list this season after being sidelined from May 10-25 with a left groin strain. The 30-year-old has yet to record a decision while compiling a 2.70 ERA in four relief appearances with Los Angeles. -- The Cleveland Indians activated Corey Kluber from the disabled list and optioned fellow right-hander Shawn Armstrong to Triple-A Columbus. Kluber, who has been sidelined since exiting a game due to lower back soreness on May 2, pitched six scoreless innings for the win in the Indians 8-0 victory over the Oakland A's Thursday afternoon. -- The Toronto Blue Jays recalled right-handed reliever Leonel Campos from Triple-A Buffalo and designated right-hander Mike Bolsinger for assignment. Bolsinger (0-2) pitched 5 1/3 innings and received a no-decision in the 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Campos is 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA in four relief appearances with Toronto this season. ))
