Dec 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Indians signed left-handers Tom Gorzelanny and Joe Thatcher to minor league contracts Monday with non-roster invitations to major league spring training camp. Gorzelanny, 33, spent most of the 2015 season with the Detroit Tigers after signing a one-year deal last January. He posted a 2-2 record with a 5.95 ERA over 39 innings in 48 games last season. Thatcher, 34, spent most of the 2015 season with the Houston Astros, compiling a 1-3 record and 3.18 ERA over 22 2/3 innings in 43 games. - - - Right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin, who missed the past two seasons following Tommy John elbow surgery, signed a minor-league contract with the Texas Rangers that includes an invitation to spring training. Griffin was 7-1 in 2012 and 14-10 in 2013 with the Oakland A's, but after he missed both the 2014 and 2015 seasons, he was released by the A's. - - - Left-handed pitcher Kyle Lobstein was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers last week and on Monday he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.
